Holy Shit, I think I knew this guy!

Posted June 5th, 2012 by John M. Becker
Another anti-gay religious leader has been caught with his pants down, so to speak.
Joel W. Hochmuth, 52, was sentenced yesterday to one year in jail with work release privileges and 10 years probation for the possession of child pornography.
At the time of his arrest, Hochmuth was the communications director for the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, a conservative, virulently anti-gay branch of Lutheranism that, with 389,364 members in the United States, is the country’s third largest Lutheran denomination.

I grew up in a W.E.L.S. church in Northern California (another hint as to my secret identity). My grandparents attended a WELS church in the San Jose area, and their minister was named Robert Hochmuth. So unless Hochmuth is a much more common name than I think it is, I'm fairly sure this is his son.
(yep, according to this bio, he is Robert Hochmuth's son)

This brings to three the number of WELS-affiliated sex offenders I have personally met in my relatively short life.

I went to high school with this guy.

I'm not neccessarily drawing any conclusions from this, but I would suggest that if you are in the market for a church, you look elsewhere than the WELS.

Chuck Norris Dildo Update

Every now and then I like to check in with Chuck Norris to see whether he's still a dildo.

CULTURE WARS

President Bill Clinton vs. Gov. Scott Walker and me

Exclusive: Chuck Norris warns of left agenda to sweep country with recall elections

Yup! Still a dildo!
A dildo with an incredibly over-inflated sense of self-importance.

Wisconsin Democrats, Washington elite and insiders, and liberal special interests have joined together to fight for the recall of Gov. Scott Walker in Wisconsin in Tuesday’s election. But last Friday, when I saw them also send in the big guns, former President Bill Clinton himself, against Gov. Walker, I knew I had to enter the ring, too.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Bill Clinton, two-term President of the United States of America, balanced out by Beardy McPunchandkick.
You really think you're the Republican equivalent of Bill Clinton? One of the most successful presidents of the latter half of the 20th Century vs the star of the worst post-Small Wonder television show of the 1990's, that seems like parity to you, does it?

Gov. Scott Walker is not a RINO, or “Republican in name only.” He walks his conservative talk. He refuses special interests.

Totally NOT a special interest group!

Gov. Walker is standing against the assault on conservative values, which includes helping people bear their own responsibilities.

If  he's helping them bear their own responsibilities, then they really aren't bearing their own, um responsibilities, right? Or is that part of the "assault" against which he is standing? Is he against helping people bear their own responsibility? Your ghost-writer could not have been less clear.

But there’s a bigger reason that Pres. Clinton came out to Wisconsin to engage in the battle to recall Gov. Walker: Democrats, liberals and progressives like him know that as Wisconsin goes on Tuesday, so possibly goes the nation in November.

Possibly? As Wisconsin goes, so POSSIBLY goes the Nation? What a bold prediction!

Walker’s recall is not just about Wisconsin; it is about national reform. It’s about living within our means. It’s about taking back our republic.

It's about fucking over teachers. And cops. And firefighters. . .

In the short 18 months that Gov. Walker has held his gubernatorial position, his bold reforms have helped eliminate Wisconsin’s $3.6 billion deficit without raising taxes, lower property taxes for median-valued homes and create more than 23,000 jobs since January 2011.

Wow, 23,000 jobs! Or as Bloomberg puts it:

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which churns out reams of national and state employment data every month, has shown Wisconsin losing 33,900 jobs in 2011. The numbers, which aren’t adjusted for season variation, were among the worst of any other state. The state also ranked 42nd out of 50 states in economic health in 2011, according to the Bloomberg Economic Evaluation of States.

But when you've been kicked in the head as often as Chuck Norris,  33,000 jobs lost and 23,000 gained probably seem to add up to the same thing.

On an un-related subject, while reading Chuck Norris's cretinous column on Wing Nut Daily, I kept seeing this ad, warning of four things which are "Destroying Men!"

I don't know what the other three are, but if they're as frightening as Tiffanie here, I'll take my chances!

Sickening comment of the day

It's a little hard to read, here it is in plain type:

"Listen to Tom. What a little bee he has in his bonnet. Buzz Buzz. My question today … when is Tommy boy going to weigh in on all the Lilly Ledbetter hypocrites who claim to be fighting the War on Women? Let's hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators who won't abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector."

So, who is Jay Townsend? According to Think Progress, he is "the spokesman for Rep. Nan Hayworth’s (R-NY) re-election campaign."

So far, he has not been fired, nor has he apologized.

Which makes sense, I suppose since he's not really the person to blame here, it's the campaign of Ms Hayworth's opponent, obviously!

(Via) Earlier today, Bruce Harvie, campaign manager for Nan Hayworth spoke publicly about campaign spokesman Jay Townsend’s comments on a Facebook page in which he suggested “hurling acid” at female Democratic senators.

And in his statement Mr. Harvie blamed the campaign of Richard Becker, one of a handful of Democrats vying to compete against Ms. Hayworth in November.
Okay, this is going to be interesting. How is it Becker's fault?

Oh, I can't wait to hear this!

“This is a manufactured controversy by a campaign operation that has, for months, hurled offensive rhetoric and imagery at Nan Hayworth on various Facebook pages, including the one mentioned today.

Okay, let's say that's true. let's say that the other side has said nasty things about your candidate. Does that somehow make acid-hurling acceptable?

It is a matter of public record that the moderator of the page in question, while purporting to represent an objective point of view, is on the payroll of the Becker campaign.

So, obviously he forced Jay to make such a horrible comment?
If you're going to start out by saying that it's not a real controversy, your next statement shouldn't be to blame someone else for it.

And in behalf of the Becker campaign, the moderator has tolerated extremely hostile and explicit comments against Dr. Hayworth. Only now have the media chosen to pay attention to this particular battlefield in the war against a woman who has the temerity to be a Republican Member of Congress.”

Ah. Got it. Disgusting misogynistic comments are ok because your candidate is female, so it's really the other guys who hate women? Wait, that can't be right.

“It’s not too much to insist that the media responsibly analyze context and perspective rather than simply broadcast hysterical and irresponsible attacks from a campaign that is purely seeking to score political points against a Representative who has a consistently strong and positive record as an advocate for every citizen she serves.”

So, in what context would that be considered acceptable? Also, I'm pretty sure that the context was understood. I'm sure no one is claiming that  Townsend was literally urging people to literally throw acid in anyone's literal face. The point is that this is a sickening, hateful, misogynistic "joke" to make, especially when women really do sometimes have acid thrown in their faces as punishment for having their own opinions or speaking their minds or whatever.

And so far, Nan Hayworth, the candidate for whom both of these men work, has had nothing to say on the subject.

Crazy Candidate of the Day

It's Oklahoma's Rob Wallace.

R.I.P., Doc.

The greatest flatpicker to ever pick up a guitar, Doc Watson, passed away last night.

And the world is a poorer place because of it.

Of course, he could fingerpick too if he had a mind to.
