I can't claim all credit. Back in the early days of blogging, when we still relied on smoke signals, the Monkey Mucker turned me on to The Felice Brothers. It was the lead singer's John Prine-esque voice and their fantastic songwriting that fascinated me. I never understood why they continued to be the journeymen and the aggressively average Mumford and Sons went on to fame.
Professor, you're wandering dangerously close to Bromance territory in your love for the Felice Brothers. Take the last picture which shows the naked bulging biceps and floppy coltish hair of the accordion player...like, maybe, time to step back, cool down and STOP and THINK??
Frankie's Gun is one of my all time faves. I've never understood why the Felice Brothers aren't more well known.
ReplyDeleteI knew it! I said to myself, "I bet Brewella knows these guys!"
