Evangelical group wants gays removed from anti-lynching bill

O my God.

You know, you come to expect a certain amount of fuckery from these anti-LGBT bigots.

You expect a lot of assholishness, a good bit of prickishness, more than their fair share of just general stupidity and shittiness, but this? Holy fuck, this is monstrous!

The Senate passed a bill to make it a federal crime to lynch people, and your reaction is not to say "about god damn time, shoulda done this 150 years ago," but to say "yeah, but it's okay to murder someone if they're gay, though, right?" And you're just going to put this out there in public as if saying this didn't qualify you for tar, feathers and a free rail-ride out of town.



What is even the rationalization for this grotesque and obscene stance?

The U.S. Senate last month unanimously passed a bill that would explicitly make lynching a federal crime. Not everyone, however, is pleased with passage of the Justice for Victims of Lynching Act.
Liberty Counsel, an evangelical nonprofit that opposes gay rights, and its chairman, Mat Staver, are taking issue with the bill’s inclusion of LGBTQ people.
"The old saying is once that camel gets the nose in the tent, you can't stop them from coming the rest of the way in," Staver said

Huh?

The camel's nose? I'm trying to figure out how this analogy even would work. I assume that in this analogy, the camel is the gay people.  The tent is. . . I don't know, NOT being murdered, I guess? So if the gay people get a little taste of not being murdered, they're just gonna want to not be murdered ALL the time? And they'll just push their way into the "it's not okay to murder this person" zone? And this is bad? Somehow? 

Maybe if I let him continue it will make more sense.

Let's start with the phrase "a so-called anti-lynching bill."  This is a bill that makes lynching a federal crime. It is pretty much the dictionary definition of an anti-lynching bill. It's like calling LeBron James a "so-called basketball player,"  or calling Donald Trump the "so-called disgrace to the nation."

Then there's "circle the wagon." First of all, you can not circle A wagon. You need several wagons. Circling the wagons means taking all your wagons and forming a circle out of them, which is, as anyone who has ever seen a western movie or a television show or has the sense God gave a mule knows, is a DEFENSIVE maneuver.

You don't circle your wagons in preparation for going for the "juggler."

Also, what is it that they're "slipping in" to this bill? The idea that, even if you don't approve of someone's love life you still don't get to murder them? Because it seems like they're being pretty up-front about that. Nothing really sneaky there.

A constitutional law expert is asking Congress to block the latest attempt to force the LGBT agenda on the country.

Hmm. I'm not all that familiar with Mat "One T" Staver. Is he a "constitutional law expert?" If I were a betting man, I'd say no. He is not. And I sure don't feel like doing the research to find out.

The Justice for Victims of Lynching Act passed unanimously in the U.S. Senate but Liberty Counsel founder Mat Staver says it passed without some senators realizing an amendment was added providing special rights for homosexuals and transgenders.

Oh, of course. "Special Rights." We've been hearing about "special rights" since the first day someone suggested that maybe the gay people should be treated as equal citizens and human beings. It's one more example of rule number one for conservatives. No conservative will ever argue anything honestly. No conservative will just say "I don't like those people, so I want them to not have rights." They will always come up with some sort of bullshit like "well why should they get 'special rights?'" or "if we let those people get married, it will damage our hetero marriages." or "look, I'd love to have equal rights for everyone, but I'm just worried that God might smite us."


So what "special rights" were snuck into the bill? Well, it may surprise you to learn that he doesn't say. I guess it's just so obvious that there's no need to waste time enumerating all the special rights that were secreted into this bill. Like um. . .  well there's. . .  uhhhh. . . hmm! You know what, I can't come up with anything. Weird!

Also, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act is not controversial in the real world. Only in your stupid shitty evangelical hate-bubble. In the real world, if you ask someone "should your boss be able to fire you if he doesn't like who you date?" about 99% of people will respond "hell, no!"  It's controversial to you the same way that the RICO laws are controversial to La Costa Nostra.

"So far they've been unsuccessful over the many years in the past," Staver observes, "but this is a way to slip it in under a so-called anti-lynching bill, and to then to sort of circle the wagon and then go for the jugular at some time in the future."

Okay, we've already been over this part, but fucking hell! Who doesn't understand the expression "circle the wagons?"

Staver tells OneNewsNow that Liberty Counsel is talking to lawmakers in the House in an effort to convince them to strip the bill of the amendment before taking a vote.

You know, I'd like to think "you're too late, Staver, the Democrats have retaken the House and Nacy Pelosi has the gavel!" but if there's one thing I've learned, it's that trusting the Democrats to do the right thing is a recipe for heartbreak.

Okay, first of all, the last time President Obama invited a racist cop to the White House, you right-wingers went apoplectic. 

Second. Why the fuck would this guy get an invite to the White House? He killed an unarmed kid and you want to treat him like he just won the Super Bowl?

Even if you're enough of a racist toolbag to believe Wilson's story, there was certainly nothing heroic about what he did. In his version, he was so scared by Micheal Brown's "angry face" that he emptied his gun into him from 35 feet away. Even if you're able to do enough mental gymnastics to convince yourself that this wasn't murder, it's pretty shcoking cowardice.

“I think it would be very helpful if President Obama went and met with the police officer, or invited him to the White House and said, ‘You’ve gone through four months of smear and slander, and the least we can do is tell you that it’s unfortunate that it happened and thank you for doing your job,’” the New York Republican told Fox Business on Tuesday

The late Micheal Brown has gone through 4 months of smear and slander in addition to having been murdered. Wilson has been on a paid vacation during which some people have pointed out the he killed an unarmed kid who was no threat to him which is totally what he did. But sure, obviously he deserves the thanks of a grateful nation for doing his "job." Why the fuck not? Brown's family hasn't had enough metaphorical slaps in the face, let's have the President treat his kiuller like a national goddamm hero. 

“I thought it was terrible how, over the last four months, a narrative was put out there by our national leaders and by many in the media presuming that the police officer was guilty,” King said.

Name one.

Name one "national leader" who made any comments presuming Wilson's guilt. Name one.  And name me some of the "many in the media" who didn't go with the old "he says A, the witnesses say B, I guess we'll never know!" Go ahead. I'm all ears.

King was not happy with Obama’s remarks, and said, “I wish he had said one good word about the police, one good word about Officer Wilson, who has gone through all this.”

Jeezus Christ! Wilson has "gone through all this?" Wilson has? See. I would have thought that the people who have "gone through" a lot would be those who lost their son, those who lost their friend, and all the people who have been told once again by the "Justice" system that their lives don't count. That they can be shot down in the street at any time and no one will ever be called to account. I would have thought that those people had gone through a lot these last few months. But obviously I'm wrong. Obviously, it's much tougher to have kllled a person and have to worry that there's an off chance that the prosecutor might accidentally get an indictment. That's what's really tough.

Even by Republican standards Peter King is a sick piece of shit.

And they recently held a conference so that finally would talk about the issues that MEN care about. Finally!

First up, there's Adam McPhee of the not-at-all-ironically-named Canadian Association for Equality who knows all about issues of sexual violence, given that, as he says,  "I have been raped, assaulted, and sexually harassed by females in my life as a male."
And who could doubt that? I'm sure it happens all the time, women using their superior physical strength to force a man to get an erection and stick it in their hoo-hahs. It's probably the most common occurrence in the world.

There's Jonathon Taylor, who looks sort of like a 12-year-old Jerry Seinfeld, the founder of  A Voice for Male Students, an organization dedicated to these principles:

The mission of A Voice for Male Students is to advocate educational equity for men and boys. It seeks to:

• Raise awareness of  the structural and cultural barriers men and boys – and in particular male students – face in receiving an equitable education;
• Promote advocacy and activism in behalf of male students, and support men’s issues groups in academia which generally accept the nine values of this site;
• Host and distribute resources beneficial to male students who are at-risk or victims of abuse, suicide, discrimination, and so forth;
• Thoughtfully, tactically, and aggressively foster a culture of accountability toward those who display and promote institutional bias against men and boys.
• Recruit individuals and build networks to more effectively delegate a wide array of talent to carrying out the above tasks.

 Because obviously, it's really hard for male students to get a fair shake, what with all those female students, um. . . also, um, being there? I guess? I don't know, but its patently obvious that this anti-male bias is the reason I didn't do better in college. That and having to work full time, and maybe drinking a bit too much, and not really caring enough. But mostly girls!

While those who oppose a voice for men and boys in our education system often suppress their freedom of expression, this website does not encourage retaliating with the same underhanded tactics

(Presumablyno relation to Townes. Or to Little Steven) who offered up this gem:

These people, that will now receive $220 million from the state of Florida unless this is stopped, will promote double-mindedness in state education and attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can. I’m sorry to report that to you.

The part that makes me laugh is the "as homosexual as they can possibly be" line. Because I picture some sort of gayness coach saying things like "Okay, so you're attracted to members of your own gender, that's great. But I know you can be more homosexual than that. Come on, kid you can do it!"

Van Zant confirmed he made the comments at an event two months ago, although he did not know he was being recorded on video. He said Common Core could introduce homosexuality to children, something he said should be left to parents to discuss with their kids.

5. Extended federal marriage benefits by recognizing, under federal law, same-sex marriages created in a state that allows same-sex marriage even if the couple is living in a state that doesn’t recognize same-sex marriage.

Um, okay, at least that one is true, but how is it an "abuse of power" or "lawlessness" or whatever? It has always been the case that a marriage that is legal in Michigan is legal in Mississippi is legal in Maryland. The fact that some fucktard bass-ackwatrds states choose not to recognize valid legal marriages from other more enlightened states doesn't change that. If the President has decided to honor the principle of equal protection under the law, I don't see how you can say he's doing anything wrong. He's just doing something you don't like.

 NATIONAL SECURITY

Oh my God, how are you not leading with this? How is it that on your list of misdeeds, killing 4 Americans without due process is NUMBER FOUR in SECTION TWO? Where are your priorities? This is the only one that seems like an actual crime. (And if it isn't, it should be.) But to you, it's apparently an afterthought, tucked in between "Failed to enforce the Magnitsky Act" and "Continued to give Egypt aid" You have some seriously fucked-up priorities, Cruz.

Then we get in to what is really the most super-illegal impeach-now category of high crimes:

2. Delayed the individual mandate for two years.

So, he did what the Republicans had begged/demanded that he do?  Impeach!!!

Also, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but in our system (not the Canadian system with which you're familiar) the Executive Branch is in charge of implementing laws. If the executive decides that a delay ion implementation is necessary, that's his perogative. He has to administer the laws, hence the phrase "Obama Administration) 

4. Extended the deadline to enroll in Obamacare.

See above.

Also, you are really getting desperate if extending a dealine is one of your "abuses of power!"

 I mean, you could hardly get more ridiculous than that!

 9. Illegally required people to violate their faith via the Obamacare contraception mandate.

 Oh, I stand corrected.

Enforcing the law of the land is illegal now? It's illegal if some uptight Bible-thumpers are uncomfortable with aspects of the law? What about the law that says that Rastafarians are not allowed to smoke pot even though it is part of their religion? What about the law that says you can't be a bigamist even if your brand of Mormonism is totally okay with that? What about fuck you, you don't get to impose your religious beliefs on your employees?

Um, that is a statistic. Not a scandal. 

I don't know whether it's true, and since the source you cite for this claim is the Washington Times, I doubt that it is, but either way, a statistic is not a crime.
