What the hell is it with these people?

Why is it that certain, shall we say conservative-leaning, white people spend so much time trying to find some loophole, some scenario in which it's okay for them to say the N-word?

Tea Party Hero Joe Walsh Kicked Off The Air For Using The N-Word

By Scarce June 20, 2014 4:23 am

At least this idiot comes up with a new fake pathetic rationale. I just assumed he'd go with the Dr. Laura "hey, if the black people can say that word why can't I?' logic. No, America's most famous deadbeat dad has a whole new line of reasoning which is equally stupid. Well, let's just let him explain it in this series of tweets.

Yeah, ya do.  You know exactly why.

Hmm, I wonder what those "other words" might be?
You know, every radio and tv outlet has their own standards for which words they consider too offensive. Like you can say "fuck" on HBO, but not on Comedy Central. You can say "shit" on Comedy central, but not on the Hallmark Channel.
In fact, not to digress, but I remember seeing Patton Oswalt on tv talking about his Comedians of Comedy show, and he said that the network would allow hin to say the word "dick" if it referred to a person who is a jerk, but he could not use the same word if it referred to a man's organ. His conundrum was this: what if some guy's penis is a racist? What if his "dick" is a real "dick?" Then what? Well, it was funny the way he said it.

Anyway, my point is that there's really no mystery here. There's nothing strange about a radio station deciding that this particular racial slur is okay to say on the air, but another one isn't. No matter how much you pretend to be just completely flummoxed by this inconsistency.

You know, a decent person would ask "if 'Redskins' is just like the n-word, then why the hell are we allowed to say 'Redskins?'" But you, being more of a shitweasel than a decent human being, of course want to know why can't you say the N-word.

Well, hallelujah!

Oh, yes. Of course. That's what you were trying to do. Trying to have an honest discussion about racist language. Yes, obviously. What could be a more honest discussion of such a controvbersial topic than "hey, how come I can't say n***er?"

Yeah, there's really not much to explain. You used offensive language on the air, so the radio station fired you or suspended you or whatever, as is their right. And, under FCC regulations, may actually be their obligation, I'm not sure. But anyway,no explanation is required. It's like saying "well, I robbed a liquor store, so I'm being arrested. . . you know what, it's a long story, I'll explain it to you later."

And there it is.
You just couldn't resist, could you. You just had to find a way to say the N-word.

What the hell is it with you people? Of all the things you could be doing with your time, of all the "rights" you could be standing up for, you have to dedicate your efforts to somehow coming up with some way that it's okay for you to say the N-word. Why would you even want to say that word? It's a horrible word. And if you honestly think that "Cracker" or "Redneck Bible Thumper" are in any way its equivalent, then you are are even stupider than I thought.

I haven't kept up with the news lately. . .

. . . has Barack Obama resigned yet?

I mean, I'm sure that by now there must be at least 10 or 20 million patriots swarming the Mall in DC demanding his ouster, and. . .

Best comment: Shame on you for 'shopping out the other 29 million

Oh.

Oh, I see.

But surely there must be a bunch more in other parts of. . .

http://img.wonkette.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/coup-5.jpg

Oh.

So, which million of you guys are going to be the ones to stay for the long haul?

http://media.giphy.com/media/3i7zenReaUuI0/giphy.gif

And the best part is, those people who did show up? They're surprised by the "dismal turnout!"

Jackie Milton, 61, who came all the way from Texas for the protest said he was disappointed with the numbers. “It’s a very dismal turnout,” Milton told The Washington Post. “It ain’t no million. And it ain’t looking like there’s going to be millions,” he said.

http://replygif.net/i/1126.gif

So how does this happen? How do people really get their hopes up that millions and millions of people are really going to show up to demand the resignation of most pf the government? Granted, these are the same people who were completely stunned when Mitt Romney lost the election to Barack Obama even though ALL the polls predicted exactly that. But how does that happen?

I suppose  that's what happens when you live in the FOX News /AM talk radio bubble. Because in the bubble, everyone, absolutely everyone just hates hates HATES Barack Obama. And absolutely everyone knows that he is just constantly violating the Constitution on myriad uncountable and unexplainable ways. Everyone in the bubble knows that the future of the Republic is in danger if these darn liberals like Barack Obama and Mitch McConell aren't immediately removed from office.

And if 100% of the folks in the bubble think this way, it's only reasonable to assume that something close to 100% of ALL people must think that way, it's just simple statistical analysis. So, let's say maybe 90% of 300 million people, and maybe only half are able to make it to DC, I suppose some folks can't afford cars because of Obama's job-killing policies, that means that. . . um, carry the one. . about . . . 135 million people who could be reasonably expected to show up.

Or maybe this many?

Breezy!

A Reminder to Republicans

Just a Reminder to any Republicans out there.

  This is your guy.

This is the face of your once-proud party:

This is what you've become. You are now the party of a guy who refers to the President of the United States as a "sub-human mongrel."

You are now the party of a man who waves around machine guns while threatening members of Congress.

Because this scumbag, this nasty, vile little shitbag, has been given the approval of your party again and again and again.

I don't know why he has suddenly become an issue, campaigning with Greg Abbot for Governor of Texas, but Nugent has had his ring kissed by the leading lights of the right for some time now.

Remember this?

Your standard-bearer in the last election went to Nugent to ask for his endorsement.
Did anyone in your party object?
Did anyone even point out that it was, let's ay "unseemly" for a man who wants to be the President to associate himself with a man who threatened the life of the current one? A man who called the Secretary of State a "worthless bitch" and suggested she ride his machine gun out of town?

And of course, it's not just him.

Remember this once and future presidential candidate jamming with Uncle Ted, doing a song about fucking underage groupies?

 Family Values!

And did anyone in your party object when one of your asshole teabagging Congressmen invited this scumbag to the State of the Goddamm Union Address?  Did any of the leaders of your pathetic little party have the balls to stand up and say "no, Steve Stockamn, you can not invite this 'man' to the SOTU. You can not bring a man who has threatened the life of the President in to a room in which the President will be speaking, have some goddamm common decency!"

No, no one in your party mad a fucking peep.
And no one said a word when the Congressman called Nugent a Great American or Patriot or whatever the fuck he said about him. You were all fine with having this scumbag in the halls of Congress as long as it was a thumb in the eye of President Obama!

So, just a reminder of how things work.

You get the Nuge.

We get the Boss

We get Janeane Garofalo

 You get Victoria Jackson

we get Matt Damon and Ben Affleck

You get Jon Voigt, Frazier, and Cliff from Cheers.

We get Tina Fey, You get Sarah Palin

You're done. It's over. We win.

Oh Please, Oh Please, Oh Please. . .

Oh please God, let this really happen!

First on CNN: Conservative group pushes to topple GOP leaders in Congress

https://i.chzbgr.com/maxW500/4822157568/h7BEB9F73/

Washington (CNN) - A conservative group is launching a new campaign which calls on "the GOP leadership in both the House and the Senate to step aside."
ForAmerica told CNN that it's putting six figures behind its "Dump the Leadership" campaign between now and November's leadership elections.
 http://a5.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music/b0/e9/27/mzi.rogicitc.170x170-75.jpg

The group says that its digital ads will target House Speaker John Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, as well as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Minority Whip John Cornyn

http://1hdwallpapers.com/wallpapers/please_god.jpg
God? I don't ask for much, but please please please let this be a real thing!

Oh please do this. Please, I'm begging you, "For America," whoever you are. I'm begging you to actually go through with this!

"Time and again, year after year, the Republican leadership in the House and Senate has come to grassroots conservatives, and Tea Party supporters pleading for our money, our volunteers, our time, our energy and our votes," said ForAmerica Chairman Brent Bozell in a statement to CNN.

http://media.giphy.com/media/oa88mwu1sDp72/giphy.gif

Oh hell yes! It's Brent Bozell! He's actually crazy enough to really do this!

So if this works out the way I think it might, and I have every reason to believe that it will, we should be seeing a shit-load of unelectable candidates from the Sharon Angle/Todd Akin wing of the far-right in Republican primaries across the nation. If they win their primaries, they increase the odds of their states and districts going blue. If they lose, they still might damage the incumbents enough by forcing them to tack to the extreme right that they increase their states and districts' chances of going blue. It's a win-win!

Let a thousand Christine O'Donnnells bloom!

Today in grumpy old man news

(via C&L)
About 90 World War II vets from Mississippi arrived in Washington, D.C., Tuesday, determined to visit the World War II Memorial—shutdown or no shutdown. When they reached the barricaded memorial, the red, white, and blue–clad gang—many of them in wheelchairs—just kept moving, knocking down gates to get inside.

You know, if it wasn't for old people in places like Mississippi, there probably wouldn't be a government shutdown keeping people out of the WWII memorial. Maybe if folks like old guys from Mississippi didn't vote for looney right-wing teabagger idiots, maybe we'd have a Congress that isn't opposed to keeping a functioning government going. And of course, the shameless teabaggers of Congress were there to pretend that they were somehow standing with the people? Or something? Pretending that they weren't ONE HUNDRED PERCENT responsible for this shutdown.

Texans can smell an opportunity

mississippi vets 3

mississippi vets 6

And of course, they're all falling for it. Of course they're all buying this charade that these teabagging imbeciles are defending common folks from the big bad government shutdown, completely oblivious to the fact that these teabaggers are entirely responsible for this shutdown because they will shut down the government if they don't get exactly what they want every time no matter who wins the election.

This is what you get from people who live in the FOX bubble, when they get all their "information" from the Limbaughs, Hannitys and Becks of the world. And until these people finally get senile enough to not be able to find their way to the polling station. we're going to be stuck with these teabagger assholes.

I swear, the more I learn about Ted Cruz the more he creeps me out.

First there was the story about Ted's father filling him with delusions of grandeur, telling him that he was God's chosen one or whatever.

Now I see this:

Ted Cruz: 'We Need 100 More Like Jesse Helms' In The Senate
Posted:

And that's not even the crazy part. The crazy part is not that Ted Cruz thinks we need 100 retrograde racist homophobes in the Senate, that's pretty much to be expected from any teabagger. This is the crazy part:

"I’ll tell you something … the very first political contribution I ever made in my life was to Jesse Helms. When I was a kid, I sent $10 to Jesse Helms, ’cause they were beating up on him, they were coming after him hard and I thought it wasn’t right, and at the time my allowance was 50 cents a week,”

What kind of a 10-year-old  kid is even aware of Jesse Helms? Much less is a fan? And so much of a fan that he saves up 20 weeks worth of his allowance to send him a contribution? And how does a Hispanic kid choose to donate to one of the most virulent racists the Senate has ever seen?

Also, at 10 years old, little Teddy had already absorbed the Republican right-wing victim mentality. "Oh, they were beating up on him! Oh, they were coming after him! Oh, poor defenseless little Senator Asswwipe, we all must chip in to defend him against whoever 'they' are!""

Seriously, the more I learn about Ted Cruz, the more he creeps me out!

Delusions of Grandeur

Remember when George W. Bush said that God told him what to do?
George Bush believes he is on a mission from God, according to the politician Nabil Shaath. Photograph: Charles Dharapak/AP
God would tell me, 'George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan'. And I did. And then God would tell me 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq'. And I did." (source)

Well, turns out he's not the only one with a messiah complex.

Ted Cruz's Father Tells Him 'God Has Destined You For Greatness'
Submitted by Brian Tashman on Monday, 7/22/2013 1:20 pm -

Yeah, this guy. Obviously!

Here's what his wackadoo father had to say in an interview with David Broder:

Cruz: Yes, but you know something, it is not something that started a couple of years ago. Let me just go back to when he was maybe four. When he was four I used to read Bible stories to him all the time. And I would declare and proclaim the word of God over him.

Whast the fuck does that even mean, "Proclaim the Word of God over him?" I was raised in a fundamentalist household where we had little Bible lesson things every evening and I have no fucking idea what it means to "proclaim the Word of God over someone."  I know what it means to proclaim the word of God TO someone, but why OVER him?

And I would just say, ‘You know Ted, you have been gifted above any man that I know and God has destined you for greatness’

Um, you just said he was FOUR YEARS OLD, and he's gifted above any man you know? Do you know any men? Sorry, all the men that Cruz Senior knows, his four year old totally kicks all your asses.

I was on the state board of the Religious Roundtable, so when my son Ted was eight years old, all we talked about around the dinner table was politics because I was so involved with the Reagan campaign. So during that time is when I asked him so many times, ‘You know Ted, when I lost my freedom in Cuba I had a place to come to. If we lose our freedoms here where are we going to go? There is no place to go.’

Except for maybe Canada, where you were when Ted was born.
Or England.
Or France
Or Germany
Or Sweden
Or Portugal

Anyway, there are lots of places where one can go to be free. But sure, no place to go!!!!!

And soon even America will not be safe for freedom unless Ted Cruz, God's Favorite Four-Year-Old, can save her!

Or maybe Steve King, who is the closest thing to Jesus that Steve King has ever seen!

Truly this man was the Son of God!

In reference to having been asked "you didn't really say that thing about calves like cantaloupes, right? I mean no one would actually say that, not even someone as ridiculous as you, I mean you didn't actually mean that, right?" he comes up with this:

As you remember, Mr. Speaker, the high priest said to Jesus, did you really say those things? Did you really preach those things? And Jesus said to the high priest, as the Jews were watching, ask them. They were there, they can tell you. That was, Mr. Speaker, the assertion by Jesus that he had a right to face his accusers. That principle remains today in our law that we have a right to face our accusers. And when he said ‘ask them, they were there, they can tell you,’ he’s facing his accusers and demanding they testify against him rather than make allegations behind his back.”

Yeah, that's totally the same thing. Being asked if you want to clarify your offensive comments is exactly like being on trial for your life in front of the Roman prefect. Obviously, if you say the wrong thing to the speaker, you could literally be nailed to a board and left to die in the  hot Jerusalem sun.

Also, I'm no theologian, but I don't think that Jesus was "asserting his right to face his accusers." At all. One thing about Jesus, he pretty much never asserted his rights. And his accusers were right there, he was already facing them. That's why he's able to say "ask them." To whom do you think he's referring to by "them?"

Insane Laws Interspersed With Adorable Kittens

It's possible that some state Republicans are seeing the writing on the wall, realizing that they are fast becoming a permanent minority party and there's only so long you can keep Gerrymandering your way out of irrelevance. So, while they still have power, they're pulling out all the stops and putting the pedal to the metal towards Crazytown while they still have the chance. Here are a few of their more insane recent proposals, interspersed with adorable kittens to keep your heads from exploding.

You're welcome, humans!

First up, Montana crazy person Gary Marbut has proposed a "Sheriffs First" bill that would, in defiance of the Constitution, years of legal precedent and common sense, give local Sheriffs supremacy over Federal Law enforcement officers. Not only would FBI, ATF or Federal Marshalls have to get permission from the local yokel sheriff before arresting anyone, if they failed to do so the ensuing arrest would be considered kidnapping and the Federal agent could be arrested and charged.

Hey, who do you trust more?

Montana Bill Would Let Sheriffs Arrest FBI Agents for Arresting People

If Montana voters approve Gary Marbut's referendum in November 2014, any FBI agent who tries to arrest a Montanan for a federal crime could be arrested—and charged with kidnapping.

Marbut's "Sheriffs First" bill, which cleared a Montana state Senate committee last week, makes it a crime for a federal agent to take any law-enforcement steps without first getting permission from the county sheriff.

This might sound like the sort of whack-a-doo idea that would have no chance of passing, but. . .

The proposal already passed both houses of the Legislature once, in 2011, but was vetoed by then-Gov. Brian Schweitzer, a Democrat.

In Missouri, nutbag legislator Mike Leara has proposed a law which would make proposing a law against the law. Sounds complicated, but it isn't. In fact, the entire bill is only one sentence:

578.460. Any member of the general assembly who proposes a piece of legislation that further restricts the right of an individual to bear arms, as set forth under the second amendment of the Constitution of the United States, shall be guilty of a class D felony.

So if any member of the Missouri legislature were to propose, say, limiting magazine size or keeping assault weapons out of the hands of criminals, that legislator would himself become a criminal, but would probably still be able to own a small arsenal, because FREEDOMMMMMMMM!!!!!

I'm not sure what the legal theory is behind this, what interpretation of what law makes this lunatic think this law would stand up to the slightest legal scrutiny, but I think it's probably based on the legal precedent of Because I Want To v. Fuck You.

Not to be outdone, ironically named South Carolina State Senator Lee Bright has proposed a bill that would have high schools teach classes about guns.

I'm pretty sure this is not him, but Google image search seems to think she is.

Bright says he got the idea after hearing from older constituents who “remembered the days” when students could join a rifle team or learn about shooting during a school day. “We’ve got football, we’ve got basketball, and we’ve got baseball,” says Bright. “I think if they had a hunting team, it would be a great idea.

If there's any substantive difference between a basketball and a loaded rifle, I have yet to see it!

And then, of course, there's Kansas.

Kansas, where they want to pass a law requiring teachers to lie to their students.

Bill asks teachers to question climate change in class

HB2306 calls climate change 'scientific controversy'

House Bill 2306, introduced last week, says science classes must “provide information to students of scientific evidence which both supports and counters a scientific theory or hypothesis.”

Like gravity, or the Earth being round.

The bill says instruction about “scientific controversies” should be objective and include “both the strengths and weaknesses of such scientific theory or hypothesis.” The only controversy identified in the bill is “climate science.”

Because only 97% of scientist agree about global warming. That's hardly a consensus! Obviously both sides should get their viewpoints aired. Both the scientists funded by Exxon-Mobil and those funded by the Koch Brothers!

Well, that's enough for one night. I'm sure there are many more CRAAAAAAAZY laws being proposed by Republicans throughout this great land. There are damn sure more adorable kittens!
