So now I'm seeing all over the net that the Occupy Wall Street crowd is anti-Semitic?
Seriously, this ridiculous claim is popping up all over the place.
Occupy Wall Street's Anti-Semitism Condemned
Tuesday, 18 Oct 2011 08:13 AM
The
Emergency Committee for Israel has launched a highly critical video condemning anti-Semitic sentiment during the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) protests and calling for Democratic leaders to stop supporting the movement.
The Jew-hatred among protesters and sympathizers is diverse and unapologetic. It is, in fact, atmospheric. Tune in randomly to live television coverage of the spectacle and you’ll see—as I did—placards scapegoating Israel, Zionism, or
“Hitler’s bankers.”
Okay, so if you click on the link this twit provides, you see this image:
Yes, this fellow is accusing Wall Street of having done business with Hitler. Somehow, this is read as anti-Semitism.
Calling this sign "anti-Semitic" would be like. . . well, it's really not like anything. It's really singularly stupid.
He continues. . .
Does anyone recall how hard the media worked to portray the Tea Party as bigoted? The false accusations of racial slurs, the cropped photograph of the gun-wielding Tea Partier—who turned out to be black, the tortured racial interpretation of the Tea Party’s desire to “take the country back”?
Mainly I recall how hard the media worked to portray the Tea Party as some sort of legitimate grass-roots movement. I must have missed the other part.
Where the Tea Party couldn’t be tagged as racist no matter how hard liberals tried, Occupy Wall Street protesters are literally boasting of their Nazi credentials.
Apparently there was ONE guy who called himself a Nazi.
And obviously one Nazi is one too many, but the Occupiers don't really have any way of keeping the nutsos out.
Of course, the RNC has gotten in on the act:
RNC: Why don't Dems decry 'Occupy' anti-Semitism?
The Republican National Committee attacked Democrats on Wednesday for staying silent about “extreme anti-Semitic, anti-Israel comments” reported at the Occupy Wall Street protests.
Conveniently lumping opposition to the policies of the Israeli government in with anti-Semitism, eh? So predictable. Just like how when the teabaggers protested the imaginary policies of the Obama administration, the Republicans condemned their "anti-American" comments, because if you dislike a government's policies, you obviously hate everyone who lives in the country governed by that government.
Spicer said Democratic leaders supporting the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations is hypocritical in light of how they’ve previously spoken about the tea party movement.
“Democrats were quick to single out any instances of perceived extremism among Tea Party supporters, but with Occupy Wall Street, they turn a blind eye,” he wrote.
Yes, if by "turn a blind eye," you mean "completely ignore." Really, I think they are turning two blind eyes to the OWS movement.
The purpose of the Tea Party was to get government out of all Americans’ lives. The point of Occupy Wall Street is to scapegoat fellow Americans. And wherever political scapegoating takes place, anti-Semitism is sure to follow.
So, sure let's just go ahead and assume that these folks are going to turn all anti-Semitic, it's bound to happen eventually, so let's pencil it in for, let's say next Thursday? Damn, that is about the dumbfuckingest argument I have ever heard.
But this one is my favorite. You have to see this to believe it. It's from some painfully stupid website called the PJ Tattler, which I assume has something to do with the asinine Pajamas Media:
Bizarre neo-swastika reminiscent of “The Great Dictator” used as power symbol by OWS leaders
Hmm, I don't recall seeing any sort of swastika-looking symbol on any of the leaders of this leaderless movement.
El Marco, one of the best citizen photojournalists in the country, this morning published an outstanding photo-essay about the Occupy Denver protests over the weekend, and in it he makes this highly disturbing observation: “An Occupy Denver community organizer leads the bizarre chanting ritual. Never have I seen anything that comes as close to a mind-control exercise in a free society. The orange tape insignia on this woman’s arm indicates that she is a leader. I was told that any questions I had could be addressed to someone with this type of insignia. When I first saw this militant-looking marking, it reminded me of the Order of the Double-Cross, made famous in the Charlie Chaplin movie, The Great Dictator.”
Um, you do realize that
The great Dictator was, oh never mind. Let's see this swastika-esque insignia
Various people throughout the crowd were wearing the symbol:
Note also how when the “leaders” put the symbol on their sleeves (as in the first and third photos), it is rotated 45 degrees just like the Nazi swastika was.
Oh My God. It's a fucking POUND SIGN!
aka "Number sign," aka "hashtag."
The New Nazi Salute
This could not be more desperate.
