Sarah Palin is so God-like!
“If what was good enough for God, scribbling on the palm of his hand,
it’s good enough for me, for us.”
--Sarah Palin
Just ignore the atrocious syntax. Is Palin really saying that God has to write down notes on the palm of his hand?
Here's part of what Palin had to say about the writing-on-the-hand incident:
". . . so to think you know that some in the media got all wigged out about that, and they couldn’t argue the content of the words, you know the few words that I scribbled. It was tax cut, and it energy for energy independence for this nation, and it was lifting America’s spirits…I didn’t have a good answer to that criticism because I thought it was so ridiculous. . ."
It's hard to argue the content of the words when the words have no content. "Tax cut?" What about tax cut? Is that supposed to remind you that you are pro-tax cut? Because how could you possibly need to be reminded of that? I don't have to write "Giants" on my hand to remember that I'm a Giants fan. You need to write "Tax Cut" (which was originally "budget cut" but you crossed out budget) and "energy" on your hand to remember the two talking points that you always bring up on every conceivable occasion?
I'm surprised you didn't write "Hockey Mom," "you betcha" and "real Americans."
And I gotta think that the reason you didn't have a good answer was not so much that you "thought it was so ridiculous," as much as the fact that you never really seem to have a good answer for anything.
then somebody sent me the other day Isaiah 49:16, and you need to go home tonight and look it up… “If what was good enough for God, scribbling on the palm of his hand, it’s good enough for me, for us. In that passage he says, I wrote your name on the palm of my hand to remember you. And I’m like okay, I’m in good company.”
Really? You believe in a God that has to write down people's names in order to remember them? If that's the God that you trust to rule the Universe, no wonder you think you're qualified to run the USA.
Funny thing, though. Remember how you said we should look it up? I did. And here is what it says (according to USCCB online)
- Is 49:16
- See, upon the palms of my hands I have written your name;
- your walls are ever before me.
It says that God has written someone's name on the palms of his hands. It never says that this is so he can remember. You just added that part.
It's said that people create God in their own image: Americans see a white God who speaks English, Germans see a stern God who loves Bach, etc. You've created a forgetful, senile God who is too lazy and sloppy to go get a note card to write down names that he's sure to forget. I think that's called projection
