The funniest picture of the campaign season so far.

Mitt Romney speaks at Ford Field

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!
How in the hell does this happen at this level?
Who books a 65,000 seat stadium for a speech that's going to draw maybe a thousand people? You could have held this event  in a high-school multi-purpose room and looked fine. But instead, you say to yourself, "I'll bet at least 40 or 50,000 people are going to want to come hear Captain Boredom talk about economics, better book Ford Fuckin Field!"  What a maroon!

Diagnosing Newt

Could Newt Gingrich really be a sociopath? Well, let's see. Here is a list of symptoms, let's see if he fits the profile:
(source)

  • Glibness and Superficial Charm
Glib is one of the first words that comes to mind when describing Gingrich. I don't find him especially charming, but whatever charm he has is certainly superficial.

Who, Me? ;) Winkee face!

  • Manipulative and Conning

  • They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.

He definitely saw his first wife as an instrument to be used. She put him through school, then he abandoned her for wife # 2.

    • Grandiose Sense of Self
Grandiosity, thy name is Newt. In one of the earlier debates, Gingrich answered charges of grandiosity by claiming that he would build a permanent base on the moon.

    • Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities.

No one lies more coolly or easily than Newt. He lies constantly and confidently. He says demonstrably false things not only as if they were true, but as if everyone knows them to be true, as if they were obviously true. Makes ridiculous claims like having been paid millions to work as an historian when he must know full well that no intelligent person would believe them, and he does it pompously. It's almost impressive.

    • Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
    http://cbsmancavenewyork.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/318px-lana-e1326838582545.jpg?w=385
    Yup!

    • Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.
I don't know about gambling, but promiscuity?
    http://wp.patheos.com.s3.amazonaws.com/blogs/frenchrevolution/files/2011/11/Screen-Shot-2011-11-17-at-1.21.18-PM.png
    Yup!

     Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.

What could be more callous than serving your first wife with divorce papers in the hospital? Maybe saying this to your second wife: 'Yes, but you want me all to yourself. Callista doesn't care what I do.' That also shows what a hugely inflated ego Newt has. To basically say to your wife "how could a mere mortal woman like you expect to have a great man like me all to herself? No one woman could possibly be enough for me!"  Grandiose sense of self? Yup!

    • Irresponsibility/Unreliability
Not concerned about wrecking others' lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause.
     See above.

    • Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity
    https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnDCkfMloq77cPPFQdN-QfNcxhJ7cOK579d83xJuOU-DMdtfQizDX4FLEI65_d4iWGa9riVFjelQxlDkIrElYYR9MauTUwBi9eDK70-uIl389w0oN4a4NduwfY1HgmaATfpxUJNvpnOZxc/s640/dave-hester-storage-wars.jpg

Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.

Whenever Newt looks bad, he immediately blames the press, blames "gotcha" questions, nothing is ever his fault. At least once, he did this pre-emptively:
"any ad which quotes what I said on Sunday is a falsehood."

The theoretical ads haven't even been made yet, but already Newt is claiming that they are lying by QUOTING HIS OWN WORDS!

So, is Newt Gingrich a sociopath? Well, I'm not a psychiatrist, but YUP!

    I didn't see last night's debate, because I'm not a masochist. . .

. . .but I imagine it went something like this:

This morning, I saw a brief clip on some news show and Joe Fucking Arpaio is being introduced out in the audience like it was the State of the Union and Arpaio was some sort of hero and not a cheap, sadistic bully.

Now I find out that Santorum is citing Charles Murray to support his anti-contraceptive stance?

Charles Murray, the author of The Bell Curve. Horrible racist Charles Murray?

    (source)
What I was talking about is, we have a society — Charles Murray just wrote a book about this and it’s on the front page of the New York Times two days ago — which is the increasing number of children being born out of wedlock in America, teens who are sexually active. What we’re seeing is a problem in our culture with respect the children being raised by children, children being raised out of wedlock, and the impact on society economically, the impact on society with respect to drug use and a host of other things, when children have children. And so, yes, I was talking about these very serious issues.

So, the solution to out-of-wedlock births is LESS contraception? How does this guy get taken seriously?

And Newt said this about the Obama administration:

    http://www.inquisitr.com/wp-content/2012/01/Newt-Gingrich-Releases-2010-Tax-Return1.jpg

This is an administration which, as long as you're America's enemy, you're safe.

As long as you're America's enemy. you're safe?

Excuse me, I beg to differ!

I swear, nobody lies as glibly as Newt Gingrich. He lies with the smooth confidence of someone with absolute confidence that he will never be called on any of his lies. He lies like a parent telling their kids that Santa is coming, knowing that they will have no reason to have any doubt. No matter how many times he gets caught lying, each new lie just trips off his tongue with utter confidence that this time they're sure to buy it! I seriously think he's a sociopath. I don't mean sociopath like "a real jerk," I mean an actual diagnosable sociopath. He really does exhibit a lot of the signs.

    The Devil and Mr. Santorum

    http://img1.etsystatic.com/il_fullxfull.287893857.jpg

So a couple years ago, Rick Santorum said this:

"This is a spiritual war," Santorum said in 2008. "And the Father of Lies has his sights on what you would think the Father of Lies, Satan, would have his sights on: A good, decent, powerful, influential country - the United States of America. If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age. There is no one else to go after other than the United States."
Santorum goes on to say that Satan has been "most successful and first successful" in attacking academia, saying Satan exploited the "pride of smart people." Then, he said, Satan went after the church, and now "we look at the shape of mainline Protestantism in this country and it is in shambles, it is gone from the world of Christianity as I see it." (source)

Which isn't really surprising. Of course Rick Santorum believes that the US is under siege by the devil. Of course he does.

    http://doubtfulnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/devil-winning-300x225.jpg

But now in 2012 he's being asked about the Satan-is-gonna-getcha comments, and he says this:

When pressed about whether he believes the country is under attack by Satan, he said:
"You guys are asking questions that are not relevant to what's being discussed in America today. What we're talking about in America is trying to get America working, that's what my speeches are about, that's what we're going to talk about in this campaign.

Not relevant?  Not relevant? How can it be not relevant. If you are asked whether or not you believe that Satan himself is attacking the nation, the only two acceptable answers are "yes, I still believe that" or "no, not any more." You can't say "Demonic forces laying waste to our country? Oh, that's not relevant anymore!" If you believe that the king of evilness is attacking America, how can anything else be relevant? How is that not problem #1?

    http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/louvin.jpg
Not for nothin' but this is a really good album.

Then he goes on to say this:
If they want to to dig up old speeches when I'm talking to a religious group, they can go right ahead and do so but I'm going to stay on message, I'm going to talk about what Americans want to talk about, which is creating jobs,

So, what it doesn't count because you were talking to a religious group? Like we're supposed to know that you didn't really mean it, you were just giving the God squad want they wanted to hear? And now, you're out among the general public, so it's jobs, jobs, jobs?

I'm going to talk about what Americans want to talk about, which is creating jobs, getting our country safer and secure and yeah, taking on the forces around this world who want to do harm to America. You bet I will take 'em on."

So which is it? Are you going to be the country's chief defender against the devil, or is the whole devil thing no longer relevant? Because it doesn't really seem like you can have it both ways.
