AIG Says $182 Billion Taxpayer Bailout Was Too ‘Onerous,’ Threatens To Sue Government For Billions More

I wish I was in a position to need to buy something from AIG so I could refuse to buy anything from AIG.

The board of A.I.G. will meet on Wednesday to consider joining a $25 billion shareholder lawsuit against the government, court records show. The lawsuit does not argue that government help was not needed. It contends that the onerous nature of the rescue — the taking of what became a 92 percent stake in the company, the deal’s high interest rates and the funneling of billions to the insurer’s Wall Street clients — deprived shareholders of tens of billions of dollars and violated the Fifth Amendment, which prohibits the taking of private property for “public use, without just compensation.” 

And they still have the balls to run those sickening "Thank You, America" ads!

Two things I just learned about Ted Cruz within like 2 minutes of each other.

1. He thinks that the goverment going into default would be just super-awesome!

CRUZ: What would happen if the debt ceiling isn’t raised is it would be a partial government shutdown. We’ve seen this before, we saw this in 1995, when Republicans in the House shut down the government. What happened was it was a partial shutdown, there was some political cost to be paid but at the end of the day, because Republicans stood strong in 1995, we saw year after year of balanced budgets and some of the most fiscally-responsible policies Congress has produced in the modern-era. If we hold strong we can do that again. It just comes down to Republicans. Are we willing to stand strong and face the wrath of the mainstream media criticizing us and the president saying nasty things about us?

 2. He totally opposes allowing the government to go into default.

"Let me be very clear about this," Cruz told Fox News host John Roberts. "I do not support default on the debt. We should never default on the debt, and the only players on Washington who are threatening default on the debt are President Barack Obama and [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid."

What are the criteria for such an award? Glad you asked. But bear in mind that for this organization, every word they use seems to mean the opposite of what it means in English:

1. Reliability: Consistent, regularly updated delivery of news. 

Okay, I'll give them that. They do post regularly and consistently. So does CollegeHumor.com, but still, it's something. 
     2.  Accuracy: Well-rounded stories which focus upon facts rather than gossip or hearsay.








    3. Quality: Favors informative, well-written pieces over sheer quantity.

 

   4. Balance: Stories are selected and reported aside from bias or agenda.

  

   5. Reach: Strong authority and readership across the web.

 

 So, yeah, obviously Wing Nut Daily meets all of these criteria!

 

With a continual commitment to the truth and top-notch journalistic practices, World Net Daily has time and again exposed corruption in the media and politics while maintaining good journalistic practices.

I've been wondering for a while what could it take for the remaining semi-sane members of the Republican party to finally come to terms with the misanthropic skull-fuckery with which they have gotten into bed.

Apparently, this is it.

John Boehner refusing to bring hurricane relief to a vote in the house is apparently the final straw that breaks the elephant's back. The Republican leadership being too afraid of the teabag extreme to do the simple, decent thing, yet knowing that they daren't vote no, because they need some relatively sane humans to vote for them, that seems to be the bridge too far for at least some Republicans.

“I’m here tonight saying to myself for the first time that I’m not proud of the decision my team has made,” said Rep. Michael Grimm, R-N.Y.

Wow! Mull that over a minute. He's never, up to this point, not been proud of the decisions made by the Republican Party. Think of all the assholetry he's been OK with up 'til now.

Even if he's only referring to the two years he's been a member of Congress, he's apparently been fine with holding the nation's credit hostage in the debt-ceiling fiasco. He had no objection to the party's allowing themselves to become the vassals of Grover Norquist and the Koch brothers. No problem with leadership demanding that tornado relief for the midwest be offset with spending cuts elsewhere or those folks can lump it. But this is beyond the pale.

And it's not just him. Lunatic Peter King (R-NY)  broke Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment. In fact he shattered it, then stomped on the shards.

“Tonight’s action not to hold this vote is morally indefensible,” King said. “There are thousands and thousands of people throughout Long Island, Rockaway, Staten Island, New Jersey, throughout the Northeast, who are homeless tonight, who are without jobs, who lost their business. “This is absolutely indefensible.”

“Boehner is the one,” the New York Republican explained. “He walked off the floor. He refused to tell us why. He refused to give us any indication or warning whatsoever… I’m just saying, these people have no problem finding New York — these Republicans — when they’re trying to raise money. They raise millions of dollars in New York City and New Jersey, they sent Gov. [Chris] Christie around the country raising millions of dollars for them. I’m saying, anyone from New York and New Jersey who contributes one penny to the Republican Congressional Campaign Committee should have their head examined. I would not give one penny to these people based on what they did to us last night.”
