Oh for fuck sake! Frank Gaffney?

http://www.thedailycrate.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/tumblr_mlp1htUzzS1qe5ugfo3_250.gif

If you thought it was pathetically ridiculous for Donald Trump to say that his foreign policy adviser would be his own brain, well Ted Cruz has just one-upped him.

Cruz taps Frank Gaffney for his national security team

Now if you stopped paying attention after the Reagan Administration, you might think "hmm, Gaffney. . . wasn't he the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense at one time? Seems like a reasonable choice." But you would be wrong. Oh, so wrong. I mean, you'd be right about him having been a Defense Department official under Reagan, but you'd be wrong in thinking that he is anything like a reasonable choice.

Gaffney is a fucking lunatic. Just Google him and you'll find fun stories like

Frank Gaffney Accuses General David Petraeus Of ‘Submission’ To Sharia Law

Frank Gaffney Braves Muslim Brotherhood Infiltration To Warn CPAC About Grover Norquist

Frank Gaffney Links Twitter, Campaign Finance Reform To Sharia Law Agenda

https://songofthelark.files.wordpress.com/2015/09/tumblr_mal2mijs5o1qc8jh0o5_250.gif

Basically, Gaffney is convinced that all the world's Muslims are out to get us and that everyone in any position of authority or responsibility is in on it with them. Seriously, even a Jewish Supreme Court Justice.

GAFFNEY: Kagan’s Shariah problem

There is a serious problem with the nomination of Elena Kagan to a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court: “As dean [of the Harvard Law School] she became the champion of Shariah.”

Yes, A female Jewish Supreme Court Justice is all in favor of a system of laws that would condemn her for being an infidel and forbid her from holding any position of authority. Makes perfect sense!

 http://www.thedailycrate.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Jon-Stewart-mind-blown.gif

Gaffney runs something called the "Center for Security Policy." If you go to their website (don't) you'll see wonderfully informative article-like things such as:

‘Star Spangled Shariah’ or a Muslim Brotherhood Revolution?

Can't it be both?

Guantanamo Bay as a National Security and Intelligence Asset

Followed by "Strychnine as a nutritional supplement and miracle cure-all."

An Islamic Revolution In America?

Video | | CounterJihad Campaign

Oh, good. "Counter-Jihad Campaign." Because it's important to have a campaign to run counter to the thing that isn't happening.

So because apparently Ted Cruz hasn't been able to reach peak loon on his own, this paranoid hate-mongering conspiracy theorist is to be one of his foreign policy advisers. And I'm guessing nobody's going to call him out on it. I mean, sure, Talking Points Memo, Right Wing Watch, Raw Story, etc. they will and have run stories about Gaffney. But I'll bet you a Coke that you won't hear anything about this on NBC, CBS or ABC.

 God, I miss Jon Stewart!

Horrible people being horrible for horrible reasons.

Two different horrible people in two different states are opposing the idea of getting rape kits tested so that rapists can be caught and jailed. It sounds inexplicable, but they have their reasons. Horrible, horrible reasons.

Horrible person number one:

Bingham County Sheriff Craig Rowland

Idaho Sheriff Says No Need For Rape Kits

Bingham County Sheriff Craig Rowland objected to HB 528. . . a bill that would create a statewide system of collecting and tracking the physical evidence in sexual assault investigations. Part of that bill would give clinics the responsibility of sending rape kits for DNA testing (unless the victim requests otherwise).
Currently, law enforcement is in charge of deciding if a kit should be tested.

Um, if? If a kit should be tested? Law enforcement has to decide IF they're going to collect evidence in a criminal case?

https://authorjenniferchase.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/homicide_800x533.jpg
Get this gun down to ballistics! You know, if you feel like it.

So why does the sheriff object to the idea of sending evidence to be processed?

“I really believe the Legislature needs to take a strong look at allowing law enforcement to do their job and not try to dictate what we need to do. I think they’re trying to help, I really do,” Sheriff  Rowland said. “They need to let us decide if we’re going to send the kit and when we send the kits in.”
“Because the majority of our rapes, not to say that we don’t have rapes, we do, but the majority of our rapes that are called in, are actually consensual sex,” he added.

 http://mysmall.world/wp-content/uploads/jaw-drop.jpg

I don't think we even need to discuss how ridiculous that statement is. No, ridiculous isn't the right word, because that makes it sound like it's not horrifying. I don't think there is a word to describe a statement like that. Monstrous? Appalling? Ghastly? I don't know. But this Sheriff Rowland is truly a horrible horrible person and should be removed from office immediately.

Horrible person number two:
Georgia State Sen. Renee Unterman

Georgia Republican Blocks Rape Kit Bill

State Sen. Renee Unterman said she’s not going to budge, and added that Democratic state Rep. Scott Holcomb, who sponsored the measure, has tried to score political points with the bill, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

“If there was a problem, I would be Johnny on the spot and I would have written the legislation,” she said, adding: “I think he really overly politicized it in an election year and I’ve got a problem with that.”

If there was a problem? IF there was a problem? All over the US, there are thousands of rape kits going untested, allowing thousands of rapists to walk free among us committing more horrific crimes. But this ass doesn't think there's a problem?

“There’s no reason to write a law just because it makes you feel good,” Unterman told CBS 46.

You're blocking a bill that would help take violent sex offenders off the streets and put them behind bars where they belong because. . . you think the guy who proposed the bill is kind of a jerk?
What a horrible, horrible person.

Oh, God. Here we go!

Boy, you hate to see a headline like this:

Washington

Customer with concealed carry permit fatally shoots ax-wielding attacker at 7-Eleven

Not because the guy shot the axe attacker, that seems like a good thing. But now everyone's gun-nut relatives are going to be posting this story on Facebook and Twitter and everywhere else and saying "Seeeee? I told you. Good guy with a gun!"

And of course, they will completely disregard the deluge of headlines like

Gun-promoting mother shot in the back by toddler with .45

Apison toddler accidentally shot himself in the head, authorities say

Grocery store employee accidentally shot by manager

NYC Police Officer Shot by Friendly Fire During Drug Arrest

Gun ownership is a bit like seatbelt use. Everybody knows someone who knows someone whose life was supposedly saved when he was "thrown clear" because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt, or someone who was trapped in a burning car because his seatbelt jammed. And those stories may be true. But 9 times out of 10, seatbelts save lives. And, yes, occasionally a "good guy with a gun" shoots a dangerous criminal and saves the day. But way, way more often, it ends up like this:

California Toddler Critically Injured After Police Say She Shot Herself

But all we're going to hear about is this ersatz John McClaneand how everyone would be so much safer if we all had guns and blah, blah, blah. . .

Ben Carson, Kingmaker

http://si.wsj.net/public/resources/images/BN-JJ585_CARSON_G_20150714141217.jpg
In a desperate attempt to remain pseudo-relevant, Dr. Ben Carson has thrown his not-at-all-significant support behind the guy who was already going to win anyway, tiny-fingered egomonster Donald Trump.

http://i.imgur.com/1AMQJNu.jpg
They're Yoooge!

Palm Beach, Florida (CNN)Ben Carson threw his support behind Donald Trump Friday morning, saying the two men had "buried the hatchet" and praising the Republican Party's front-runner as a "the voice of the people to be heard."

Jeezus Christ, can't he say anything normal? You can just say "the voice of the people." I mean, sure, it's ridiculous and stupid, but at least it sounds like something a normal person might say. (just not about Trump) But "the voice of the people to be heard?" What the hell even is that?

He explained that there were "two Donald Trumps" -- one that the public sees, and another more reserved and "cerebral" man who "sits there and considers things very carefully."
"Some people have gotten the impression that Donald Trump is this person who is not malleable, who does not have the ability to listen, and to take information in and make wise decisions. And that's not true," Carson said. "He's much more cerebral than that."

Okay, see, that makes it even worse. You're saying that Trump actually knows better. Like he knows perfectly well that most Mexicans are not rapists, most Muslims don't hate America, and that whether or not  Megan Kelly  was on her period has no bearing on how she does her job, he's just ginning up hatred and anger to attract the worst element of American society into his camp, consequences be damned. Which is probably at least partly true. Trump can't possibly be as stupid as he seems to be. But you pointing that out isn't really helpful to him.

The reporter asked, “You said throughout your life God has led you to your most important decisions. This truly is an important decision. Did God lead you to Donald Trump?”

http://clipartfreefor.com/cliparts/god-clip-art/cliparti1_god-clip-art_02.jpg
Woah, hey! I had NOTHING to do with this!

This truly is an important decision. Or it would be if your endorsement meant anything. You know, like if there were people who give a shit what a crazy somnambulist retired doctor thinks about the political landscape. Is what the reporter meant to say, I assume.

Carson said that God had given him several signs – once of which included a vision from an unnamed friend.
“I prayed about it a lot, and I got a lot of indications, people calling me that I haven’t talked to for a long time saying, I had this dream about you and Donald Trump — I mean, just amazing things…”

Wow! Your friend had a dream.
I had a dream that someone shoved a guitar into my hands and pushed me out on stage and I discovered that I could magically play really really well. So I'm pretty sure that God wants me to quit my job and start a band.

http://clipartfreefor.com/cliparts/god-clip-art/cliparti1_god-clip-art_02.jpg
I am NOT taking the blame for this with your wife, pal!

"What I've been seeing recently is political operatives ... once again trying to assert themselves and trying to thwart the will of the people," Carson said. "I find that to be an extraordinarily dangerous place right now."

Really? Because, you know what would really be a dangerous place right now for you? A Donald Trump rally.

Guess who's out of jail and making bullshit movies again?

If you guessed self-righteous adulterer and creepy version of Mr. Bean Dinesh D'Souza, give yourself five points!

NEW YORK – Conservative filmmaker and bestselling author Dinesh D’Souza has given WND permission to make public the trailer for his new feature film, “Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party.”

Wow, he's given you permission to give him free publicity for his upcoming movie? What a get!

And you know it's some honest film-making because the trailer begins with D'Souza pretending he was sentenced to Oz for campaign finance violations.

And that he was sent to jail not for having committed a crime, but because the Obama Administration wanted to "shut him up." I mean, yeah, pretty much everyone wishes you would shut up, Dinesh, but that's not why you were jailed. You actually, literally committed a crime, don't pretend like we don't know this.

And D'Souza promises to reveal the "secret history" of the Democratic Party. And the bombshell revelation? The Democratic Party used to be the favored party of Southern racists!
Um, everyone knows this.

It's like "revealing" that the San Francisco Giants used to play in New York. Everyone already knows, and it's means nothing. The Giants used to play in New York, the Dodgers were in Brooklyn, the Nationals used to be the Expos, and none of that has anything to do with the way the National League is currently configured.

http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/MEoAAOxy4eJTLISP/s-l300.jpg

White Southern racists used to vote for Democrats because they couldn't forgive the Republicans for being the party of Lincoln. Then LBJ signed the Civil rights Act, Nixon came up with the "Southern Strategy" * and Strom Thurmond led the racist Exodus from the Democratic Party to the GOP. Everyone already knows this. This is not a "secret" history.

Also, it's a little hard to portray the democrats as the party of the Klan when the Klan has just endorsed Republican front-runner Donald Trump.

http://www.mexican-american.org/images/archive/slider-bar/728x360/people/politicians/donald-trumps-racist-kkk-neo-nazi-endorsements_728x360_slider.jpg

And it ends with the question "what if their plan is to 'steal' America?" And in this context, I guess the word "steal" means "get elected to public office by the voters? And then govern?

The trailer is scheduled to debut officially Saturday at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C., as part of D’Souza’s presentation on a panel.

Ahh, CPAC! The Cannes of bullshit!

“The Democrats at their national presidential nominating convention in Philadelphia will be meeting in July to put out their official story of the Democratic Party’s role in American history, and we will be opening in theaters across the country to put out the counter-narrative – namely, the truth,” D’Souza told WND in an interview Thursday.

Theaters across the country! And by "theaters," we of course mean church basements, VFW halls and multi-purpose rooms rented out by the College Republicans.

Anyway, there's probably more we could get into, but the computer is acting up agai. Let's just say that if any of you are members of the Democratic Party, enjoy it while you can. Because Dinesh D'Souza is going to blow this party out of the water!

*Technically, I think Kevin Philips came up with the Southern Strategy on Nixon's behalf, but I don't like to quibble.
