Way Past Time for Obama to Fire Jeffery Immelt

GE CEO: Protesters Should 'Root for Me'

In an interview that aired Sunday, General Electric Chairman and Obama job czar Jeffrey Immelt told CBS' Leslie Stahl that the notion that Americans were against big companies was "just wrong."
"I want you to root for me," Immelt said. "Everybody in Japan roots for Toshiba. Everybody in China roots for China South Rail. I want you to say, 'Win, GE.'

hey, genius! It's not that we're rooting against GE. We're more than happy to see GE succeed. What we have a problem with is you shipping jobs overseas, making huge profits off of war, and then paying no taxes. We would like GE to succeed without fucking us over. If you're going to keep behaving like you hate America, then the hell with you.

I feel like I have way more invested in KIA doing well, since they started making cars in Georgia, then an "American" company who makes all its stuff in China. How do you not get that?

My New Favorite Mayor

http://bestparentever.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/mcdmayormccheese.jpgMove over, Mr. McCheese, I have a new favorite mayor now.

It's Los Angeles' Antonio Villaraigosa.

Not only is he irresistible to women, apparently, which already puts him head and shoulders above most mayors, but there's also this:

Start Baking!

Check your calenders, Oct. 9 is "Pro-Life Cupcake Day!"

http://i1.squidoocdn.com/resize/squidoo_images/-1/draft_lens2081746module45040042photo_1247120703Giant-Cupcake.gif

from cupcakesforlife.org:

Cupcakes were designed with birthdays in mind.  However, not everyone has been allowed to be born.  In fact, one in four children will never celebrate their first birthday due to abortion.  We simply do not think it is far [sic] that so many children never get to have a birthday party.  So, we thought that we would schedule a day to remember the children who will never get to blow out candles, unwrap gifts and enjoy some cake.
Every year, on October 9th, we bake thousands of cupcakes and hand them out for free.  When people ask why, we explain that we are remembering these children and honoring their birthday.  Join us in celebrating these lives and remembering the children who will never have a cupcake!

So, okay, pro-life cupcakes. let's get baking. let's bake cupcakes for every soldier and civilian who will never see another birthday because of our brutishly stupid wars. Let's bake one for Troy Davis and every other executed prisoner who will never get another birthday because it's better to kill an innocent man than to look weak by not killing anyone at all.
Let's bake cupcakes for everyone who has died of an easily curable disease because they could not afford medical care.
Let's bake a cupcake for Matthew Shepard and every other LGBT person who will never see another birthday because of the bigoted hatred being celebrated this weekend at the "Values Voter Summit."
And how about a cupcake for every kid who has taken his own life because he could no longer tolerate the vicious hatred.
While we're at it, let's bake a cupcake for each of the 17 million American kids who face "food insecurity" on a daily basis. It might be the only dinner they get.

P.S.  I can't put my finger on it, but there's something really disturbing about saying that a bunch of kids have been killed, then say that you are "celebrating." Also, to bemoan the fact that these kids will never get to eat cupcakes while conspicuously enjoying cupcakes just seems to be in really bad taste.

Hopefully the Last Time I will Ever Mention Sarah Palin

Would someone please explain to Ms Palin that "President of the United States of America" is more than just a title!

. . .I apologize to those whom are disappointed in this decision. .  .But I believe that they, when they take a step back, will understand why the decision was made and understand that, really, you don't need a title to make a difference in this country. I think that I'm proof of that.

I'm sorry, what difference do you think you've made? "Cuz I'm really coming up with nothing.
But what's with the whole "title" thing? Just last week you were saying:

"Is a title worth it? Does a title shackle a person?" asked the former Alaska governor. . .
Palin continued: "Somebody like me - is a title and a campaign too shackling?
. . .Does a title take away my freedom to call it like I see it and to affect positive change that we need in this country?" she added. "That's the biggest contemplation piece in my process."

You know, being President is not a titular promotion. It's not like being Miss Methville, Alaska or whatever you were.

It's a job. A very very important and difficult job. Not the sort of job that one ought to quit halfway through. Not the sort of job for which someone like you should ever be considered.

You had no chance of winning, that's not surprising. What's a little surprising is that you actually realized that. I actually thought you would run some sort of half-assed pseudo campaign just for the additional attention. Also to justify your Marginal History Tour in the Constitution bus.

Because I gotta figure that this "family vacation" was paid for by PAC money. Money that is supposed to go towards political campaigns. And if the Tragical Bristly Tour was not the start of a half-assed campaign, and it was paid for by campaign donations, well there are laws about that sort of thing. And you are no longer in a position to pooh-pooh the law. This ain't Alaska, down here you got to follow the rules.

And now, I will bid you good day, Madame and let us never speak of you again.
