A student in Ohio has been told that he can not wear the above T-shirt because it is supposedly "indecent."
CINCINNATI -- Sporting a T-shirt that could get him suspended from school, but one he considers a message of acceptance, teenager Maverick Couch has become a plaintiff in federal court.
Couch said he attempted to wear the shirt last spring for a student-led event called "Day of Silence," which is designed to take a stand against bullying.He said he complied with a request from the school principal to remove it, and subsequent requests for permission to wear the shirt were also denied. Couch said that he has been threatened with suspension if he violates the school stance.
So what could the school possibly be objecting to?
According to Lambda, when pressed for an explanation, the school wrote, "the message communicated by the student’s T-shirt is sexual in nature and therefore indecent and inappropriate in a school setting."
Oh. Well I guess the fact that the shirt was illustrated with graphic photos of gay sex. . .oh, no, wait! It's a drawing of a colorful fish!
